Saturday, January 2. Blow Out the Winter Blues! Head to Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson this Saturday for free food provided by Wild Wing Cafe and enter to win weekly prizes and the grand prize of a Harley Davidson Rocker C! 12-2 pm while supplies (food) lasts. Sunday, January 3. Rhonda Vincent & The Rage Live! The Wall Street Journal deemed her the NEW Queen of Bluegrass, and this All American Bluegrass Girl continues a rigorous tour schedule with a special stop in West Columbia at Bill's Music Shop & Pickin' Parlor! Sunday, January 3. Surviving Scorch! Join a ranger for a guided hike along the Bluff trail to learn about fire ecology and search for evidence of fire activity at Congaree National Park. The hike begins at 1:30 pm. Visit the National Park Service for more information.

Tuesday, January 5. The Eleanor Concert. Celebrating family through the arts is a great way to start 2010! The Eleanor Collection promotes themes of family, faithfulness and joy through songs of love, warmth, tenderness and devotion. Featuring the Chicago New Arts Trio and South Carolina composer Dr. John Lane’s commissioned compositions, the concert includes a lecture by Lane and an opportunity to meet the artists. Named after the daughter of Trio soprano Carolyn Hart, the Eleanor Tour also includes flutist Jen Brown and pianist Misook Kim. Cost: $7 or free for members. $5 student tickets available at the door. Wednesday, January 6. Backyard Buds: Winter Wildlife Tree. Help us create a variety of tasty decorations for our feathered friends in the Garden. We will decorate a tree in the Garden as well as take a treat for the birds at home. 10:00am (ages 3-4). Visit Riverbanks Zoo for more information and to register.

Thursday, January 7. Swing Classes and Dances! Join local dance favorites, Richard Durlach and Breedlove as they take you back in time to the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s to the Swing dance era at the historic Big Apple. Enjoy classes and an open dance following instruction. Classes are from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and dances are from 7:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m. The Big Apple is located at 1000 Hampton Street. Reopening Thursday, January 7. RENT. Trustus Theatre proudly presents this performance that follows a group of impoverished young artists and musicians who struggle to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS.
