Many energy efficient improvements made in 2009 to a primary residence have money attached to them in the form of a rebate or an incentive of some kind. Check out your state to see what qualifies. Click on the link when it comes up, scroll down to the middle of the page for a chart that covers most updates.

A number of these incentives go into 2010 so if you have been putting off buying a new dishwasher, refrigerator, furnace, programmable thermostat don't wait too long - you could miss out.

I found 2 that I qualifies for and 3 that our son Nick qualifies for in 2009, we will also qualify for additional rebates in 2010. There are some benefits to living in a demolition zone!
