Flavor Bistro - Santa Rosa Ca - Restaurants - Sonoma County Wine Country Lifestyle
For 2010 I decided to expand on my original posting in 2009 called, "California's Sonoma Country Wine Country Top 10 Secrets Exposed!" I had listed my top ten favorite things in Sonoma CountyWine Country and added an eleventh item as a bonus because I could not leave this item off the list. It was the Gourmet California Fusion Cuisine. I'm proud to say, we have many wonderful restaurants in Sonoma County Wine Country that have successfully placed themselves amongst the best in the country.
One of my favorite places to eat is Flavor Bistro (Flavor as the locals call it) which was voted "Best New Restaurant" for Sonoma County in the Readers' Choice Awards of the Bohemian Newspaper's Best of North Bay for 2005, 2006, and 2007. I've made it a point to make Flavor one of my regular places to take my wife out on a date whether we're eating lunch or dinner. The service at Flavor has been consistently friendly and resonably timely. The atmosphere can range from a nice place to socialize for lunch to a buzzing night on the town on the weekend evenings. I like that fact that Flavor focuses on serving organic foods that are locally grown. It's nice to feel like I'm contributing to the Sonoma County Wine Country farming community.
The wine selection at Flavor Bistro covers a nice variety of the local vineyards. If you're a beer drinker, you have to try "Death & Taxes" on draft. It is a dark beer that has a very rich dark chocolate taste. For those of you who prefer a lighter beer that's slightly hopy, try the "damnation". For a nice dinning experience, I usually order the following:
- Appetisers - Flavor's appetizers are so delicious! I could just sit and eat them all day! My top four are, Peach Bruschetta, Sweet Potatoe Gnocchi, Steemed Mussels and Sauteed Dungeness Crab Cake. Ok, just one more - the Stone Oven Roast Figs!
- Salad - you must try Flavor's Seared Ahi Tuna which is cooked and flavored to perfection. I'm salivating just thinking about it! The other salads are also good, but this one is my favorite.
- Main dish - go for the Butternut Ravioli or the traditional Gnocchi. Those two dishes bring back some fond memories for my wife and I. Of course, you can get something hardier like Flavor's Flat Iron Steak with their incredibly creamy potatoes.
- Desert - It's got to be the creme brulee. It is to die for and is one of the best in Sonoma County Wine Country.
