Durango-Silverton Steam Locomotive -- December 27th, 2009

I love riding on passenger trains through the mountains - with the scenery changing around every turn!  Great shots.

Liz I live an hour and a hlf from Silverton and never have done the train, Colorado native, now I am inspired to put it on our list of things to do. If you hit Montrose give us a call.

Liz, That is supposed to be an awesome train ride.  And how cool that it's used for the Polar Express! 

What a beautiful train and piece of history.  It would be wonderful to take the family on a ride on this.

I've been on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad many times, first in July 1973 and most recently in July 1999. I've done both summer and winter rides, but I think I enjoy the summer rides better.

Liz,  You have some great photos.  It sounds like a great train ride.  Another great train ride is the "Heber Creeper"  which is just a few miles from Park City, Utah.  I have ridden it and it was great.
