So Summer in Texas is FINALLY here. The rains have ceased, at least the torrential downpours that we have been getting. My kids were gone for 2 weeks and Matt and I couldn't wait for them to come home so that we could celebrate the 4th like every other American Family, cookouts, swimming, parades, fireworks.
SO the day got off to a great start, we were dressed, the car was packed, and the skies were BLACK, yes that's right, for a city that usually prays from rain this time of year, we are just asking for the clouds to part for a few hours so that we can enjoy the planned festivities. We set out anyway and by the time we arrived it had started to sprinkle - no big deal... We brought the umbrella's and set out for the line-up. We weren't the only ones... the crowds came and despite the downpour - everyone had a great time! Besides what's a little water anyway?
The activities at the end of the parade were washed out, children with soggy hot dogs was not quite appealing to us, so we headed home for a dry lunch, dry clothes, and what turned out to be a beautiful day!
We enjoyed a cookout with some friends, the children went swimming, and we watched the fireworks at Flower Mound High School.
All in all, a great day...everyone was in spirit - and now SUMMER is officially here, we have been spared 100 degree heat, but I'm sure it's just days away!
