Diligence and the Realtor

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Central Delaware

Proverbs 12:24 KJV says "The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slotful shall be under tribute." How I relate this text to be a Realtor is the fact that if we are diligent (first with God) we are can make our business profitable because we are not in pursuit of the money but we are diligent in our relationships with our clients.

I remember before I got into Real Estate I was looking for a home and the realtor(or should I say the person with the license) never took us to the places that we liked and when we finally found the place that we wanted she was not prepared to write the offer and blatantly stated that the seller wouldn't accept the offer anyway.  Needless to say after that transaction we let that person go.

As soon as we let her go she tried to be proactive and send a list of every home in the market hoping that she could trap us into working with her again.  The point and bottom line is that she was not diligent in the relationship with her client or the transaction.  The would be an example of bing slothful.

When I first got into Real Estate I had a great mentor.  He allowed me to watch how he interacted with his client and man let me tell you, this man was diligent.  He was so diligent that he rarely advertised.  He had so many clients giving him referrals that he didn't have enough day for all the clients that he had.  I learned so much from his example and followed the pattern of diligence.  He was given his measure of success or rule because he was exceptional in diligence and my question to all of us is:  Are we ready for rule (favor) or are stuck in slothfulness(laziness)?

Every client is a potential 10 clients in the making!!

Mason,

Thanks for the post. Clearly, the licensee you attempted to work with missed the basic rule, that of addressing the needs of the client. In order to do that you need to be of one accord. The licensee clearly brought discord to the table.

Thanks for the post.  I agree.  The rule is thumb for me is to treat every client as they were my own family member.  No matter the commission as you never know where your next client will come from.

Hi Mason!  I'm going to use this post as a motivational pinpoint in our meeting (if you do not mind).  This should hit home without the initiation originating from me!  Thanks for sharing!

Too bad you missed the "I Dare You " Proverbs challenge that we did earlier - I see you have many worthwhile Proverb comments to contribute. Keep them coming.
