Today's Hawaii Mortgage Interest Rates and Real Estate News - Including Hawaii VA Loans and Refinance

Market News:

• HUD released new updates to 4155 ("FHA Manual") such as transferring appraisals between lenders doesn't have to have new lender name on appraisal.  Go to HUD.gov for more.

• GMAC expects to post a record loss of $5 billion from their fourth-quarter.  Will try and sell it's ResCap mortgage unit.

Hawaii Interest Rates as of 01/05/09:

Nice rate drop today.  Base rate (lowest you can buy with points) today for a 30 yr fixed loan is about 4.25%. The going rate (with no lender points) is about 4.875%.

Base rate today for a 5 yr fixed loan (30 yr term) is about 3.5%. The going rate is about 3.625%.

Base rate today for a Hawaii VA Loan is about 4.75%. The going rate is about 5.125%.
