Despite the bull dozers, piles of sand and traffic delays - Via De Luna is looking good! The finished product will have four lanes with a landscaped median, a sidewalk, a bike path and some underground power.
For some area business owners, the roadwork has had a surprising effect on their profits. DJ's Beach Cafe owner Jack White said that since the roadwork began, he has seen a slight increase in business. Tourists don't seem to be bothered much by the construction, either.
The road is scheduled to be completely finished in early 2007. With the widening of the road and the addition of landscaping Via de Luna will help us with our renovation of Pensacola Beach.
