Are we in sales?

As a real estate agent or Realtor are you in sales?

Being "in sales" is not necessarily bad words/or career choice!  I would suggest, as a Realtor if you cringe at the thought of being "in sales" you might be in the wrong business or you might want to re-think it.

Yes, we are in the customer service business, but in the bigger picture, customer service is part of the sales business.  In my humble opinion, we are all in the sales business!  We are in the discovering clients needs and finding a way to satisfy that need, at the best price with the least amount of hassle with the product of homes.  This original premise, is true if your selling anything from widgets or houses.

In order to be successful, we have to find those potential clients (prospecting & marketing), then we have to service them before ( I call it "pre-service"), during and after the sale, this is the selling!  If we don't prospect and continually gain new clients and sell them homes, no matter how good a Realtor we are, we don't get to be in business for very long!

Don't be ashamed to be in sales!

I don't care what business folks think I'm in, as long as they sign the contract.

Nothing wrong with sales.  It's a time honored job.  Hard work and requires perseverence, training, product knowledge, financing, etc.

Pays well if you know what you're doing.

Our license says salesperson.

Mine says Broker.  That's how you avoid being in sales.  I'm in real estate brokerage.

I love sales -- been a salesperson most of my life.  Lately, I find that I prefer to drive them around until they finally say "uncle" or "please don't show us another house!" and then let them write up the contract themselves.

Hasn't worked all that well.  Maybe it's time to blow the dust off that book of qualifying sales scripts?  :^)

Jennifer - BTW, I tried adding Extraordinaire after "Realtor" for quite a while.  Got my hands slapped.  Found out we're not allowed to add anythind descriptive after the term "REALTOR", so if you see this, you might take it as a heads up.  NAR frowns on it rather seriously.

Anyone who owns a business....is in sales.   If you have to move the product to make money, then you are in sales plain and simple.  Sales is not a bad word.  I am proud to be in SALES!

Everyone on this planet is in sales, one way or the other. Even when you go look for a regular "job" you still gotta convince the future employer to give you the job and keep you at it. Much like a sale. .. ?
