Staff and Wire Reports.
This part of the story is the BEST part of the story; keep tuned to the follow-up on plant re-openings, hires, and production plans.

If that happens, then there is a place for optimism for 2010.
On the air last night [Local 4 News--5-6 p.m. cycle] :
...Chrysler's Chief executive Sergio Marchionne stated that his company does not have the  people needed to revamp the U.S. product line.  Hiring is in the future of the company; probably beginning with temporary workers.  [ Will this be the start of the re-start of the automobile industry ]

General Motors' factories making the Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain & Cadillac SRX [ all cross-overs], & the
Buick LaCrosse sedan are at or near capacity. While trying to get more production out of existing factories, G.M. may be looking at the re-opening of some of the 14 closed plants, beginning with Spring Hill,Tenn.
General Motors now has approximately 7,500 idled workers. The Cruze by Chevy is soon to be in production at the factory in Lordstown, Ohio; the Cruze, due out later this year, is a KEY product for G.M. Is also noted that G.M. has also placed it's Janessville, Wis. plant on standby.  Though there are no Michigan plants on this list, we can only hope that we, here in Michigan will also see good future news.

Interestingly, Ford Motor Company--the one robust co. here in Michigan, is somewhat down-played in local news; last night's TV coverage however, did Highlight the Company's offerings.  The company has gone on record as saying that it will create almost 1,000 jobs through its electric vehicle program.
The new models,  the Ford Focus, & the Mustang are eye-candy.  Ford has announced [today?] at the Auto show that they will re-tool the Michigan Truck Plant to produce the Focus due out in late Fall 2010

Given the opportunity,  treat yourself to any Local or National news coverage; LOOK at, DROOL over, & BUDGET to purchase some of the new cars--OUT OF DETROIT
