The second part of my interview with US Senator Johnny Isakson is now online.
His background as a REALTOR gives him a very interesting perspective on the housing debate in the Senate.
Isakson also has some good ideas for healthcare and how it can be made affordable to REALTORS.
Here is a short preview:
Macon RE Examiner: With many in the real estate industry struggling to get by, what advice would you give to help them through this tough market?
I have three kids, they have children, they are early in their careers, and all of them are in real estate, and I tell them: First of all and always, you think positive. Second of all don't end up looking at all the doom and gloom that you see in the papers and everywhere else. But look for incremental accomplishments that you can make along away to build on your career.
I share with them that I went through two periods in my career and one as the principal, of our company where we were really threatened with a very deep recession and you got to the point where you started having to lay people off, you got to the point where you had to cut back, you got to the point where you felt like look, where going to be going out of business, and if you start to think that way, it starts to become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
With a positive attitude, with hard work, with looking for what they call the green shoots of a recovering economy, you hang in there and be tough during the tough times, your are going to prosper big time during the good times.
