Below is an article soon to be published about a local family who contacted me to stage their home. Considering so much structural work needed to be done before staging, we all joined in the effort to prepare the Marceau’s home for sale.

(Welland, ON July 2, 2007) Just Junk Inc., a Niagara-based junk removal and waste management company has volunteered their services to help a local family clean out their house in preparation for a permanent move to Crato, Brazil where the family of 10 will dedicate themselves to community-based humanitarian efforts, announced Chris Chew, Vice President of Just Junk Inc.

The Marceau family, made up of four boys and four girls ranging from age 7 to 18, will move to Crato, Brazil in October 2007. The family will focus their humanitarian efforts on bringing hope to the impoverished village by working with the local orphanage to implement an after-school program that will keep children off the streets and help kids with home work and life skills.

³Our goal is to connect the needs in Crato, with those in the Niagara region who can supply the solutions,² says Nora Marceau, the matriarch of the family, who was inspired to help after a visit to the local orphanage in March 2007. ³We want our children to experience first hand, the pleasures of giving back. It¹s a big move but we know it will be a life changing experience.²

The family plans to take very few belongings and in order to raise funds; they plan to sell their house and nearly everything in it. However, their house is currently not up to market condition and they have enlisted the help of local business to make their house buyer friendly. This process includes disposing of all their junk an undertaking for which Just Junk has volunteered their services.

³How could we not get involved in this project?² says Chew. ³This family is downsizing their life to fit into suitcases in order for them make a difference in the world. It¹s truly inspiring and we are thrilled to help in any way we can.²

Additional Niagara-based businesses have also joined forces to help the Marceau family in what is being dubbed the ³Take This House and Sell it Project². Kim Garrels of Revision Staging in Welland will help the Marceaus decorate and stage their home for resale; and Realtor Steve Canjar of Royal Lepage will put the house on the market. The family¹s church is soliciting donations for the products and labour involved, and although they have some manpower they are still in need of skilled workers for tasks such as installing windows, landscaping and driveway paving.

The Marceau family hopes to raise money to buy laptops so their children can continue their education online, as well as funds for their travelling expenses and monthly support. Their goal is to eventually bring down Niagara-based teams to expand on their humanitarian initiatives in Crato.
