The Internet’s Dumbest How-To Videos

It's already hard enough being a Realtor without the noticeable increase in "How-To" video's popping up everywhere.

There's ehow.com, 5min.com, WonderHowTo.com and numerous opinion, feedback and review Websites. Some are positive (Why Sell Your House with a Realtor?) other's not so (How Do You Get Out Of Your Listing Agreement?)

Then there's the blogs; it seems everyone is telling Realtors how to do their job (yes, I get the irony).

I recently discussed the need for creative real estate marketing, in part via video, in my post "Facebook, Viral Marketing and Real Estate." As you might expect some of the emails I received started off with "But how do I...[fill in the blank]".

Then I saw the following video on YouTube; it's a how-to video on how-to videos. Of course it's tongue in cheek but it's still worth a watch. My favorite clip is Grace Fitzpatrick teaching us how to wash dishes (seriously! The full version can be viewed here). I'm beginning to fall in love with Expert (?) Villages own "Amazing Grace" (my new nickname for her) as she clearly knows absolutely everything! Other great lessons include "How Ventriloquism Works" and "How to Make Homemade Cat Food." Grace is the total package...

I'm hoping you realize that it's never been easier to make a video and upload it to YouTube for the world to see. And if you still don't believe you can teach someone something (anything!) about real estate, your community or a listing (and therefore promote 'brand you') after watching this next collection of clips then I can't help you, no one can. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World...
