I went to lunch today with a friend. Due to lots of street work in the primary restaurant area in Fairhaven, we ended up at the firehall. This is at Harris and 14th Streets. It is a pretty neat idea. For most of my adult life this was a working firehall for the south side. It must be about 5 or 6 years ago that the city put in a new, big, modern firehall. This old building was vacated and has been refurbished and is a small cafe and also hosts live entertainment -- dancing, live performances, music. If you are wondering where there is room for all this, the answer is on the west side where they used to park the trucks. It is a nice looking wood floor and the seats come down from above. If you are ever in the neighborhood, it has great atmosphere, plants around it and it is a good spot to sit inside or outside. Today it was not crowded either.
Thanks for looking.
