All of my posts are about actual events with my clients. This one is difficult to tell; it is long and it was a powerful lesson to me of something I had never seen or heard of before.
I have been thinking recently and reading A New Blog: Haunted Real Estate a post by Mary Pope_Handy and have visited her website many times in the past http://www.hauntedhouses.com/ when I was researching something or trying to find information about a particular type of haunting. I didn't know it was hers until recently and didn't know she was on Activerain.
I did a Feng Shui consultation last year on a client who had a profound story to tell and the consultation has always left a very strong impact on me. I tried to write an article about it, thinking it might help others but it never came out RIGHT. Here's "Lucky's" story:
I received a call just about a year ago from a nice sounding gentleman with an accent I wasn't familiar with. He called, he said, on the advice of this therapist who suggested with the situation he was facing in his home, he should contact a Feng Shui Consultant. He'd never heard of Feng Shui but said he was getting desperate and needed help.
He had moved into a home just over two years prior from the time he called. His wife had already had some issues, originally diagnosed as bipolar and they had a son who was just about 10 years old. Not long after moving into the house, he said, he heard noises. He only heard them at night and it sounded like his bedroom door was being opened and closed....though he could clearly SEE the door and it wasn't.
I am careful when interviewing a client, just as I hope they are when interviewing me and spoke with him at length, wondering if I was the right person to help him with this. He further relayed that he had gotten the home as a foreclosure, having met the previous owner who was a woman with four small children whose husband had walked out on her---very sad circumstances of course. But to Lucky, it was his first home and he felt incredibly blessed to be able to afford it.
Almost immediately after moving into the home, his wife became much worse. She did not hear noises, she did not take any medication and according to my client, her behavior was becoming bizarre. She was soon diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic and was taping the walls and ceilings of the home and trying to cover every conceivable spot because she was SURE she was being "watched."
Lucky was, of course, concerned about her erratic behavior and its effects on his son. Since she was resistant to being treated, he felt divorce was the only option and this saddened him greatly. A year had passed, he had temporary custody of his son while the divorce was pending and met another woman. She did not hear the noises he spoke of but did say the house had a terrible "feeling" inside.
Before deciding to try to assist him, I spoke to him at length twice and his new girlfriend once. My concerns were that he was seeing a therapist and no one else heard these noises. It came out during our discussion at his home that he was seeing the therapist because he felt terrible about the divorce. In his country, it is out of the question yet he felt he had to for his son's sake.
Entering his home, I saw immediately that he was a gentile and concerned father and the circumstances he was under (now going through the divorce, fighting for custody and having difficulties with his new girlfriend) were upsetting him greatly. As I began my walk through, he led me down a hallway where all the doors were closed and opened each one and explained whose room it was. As he began to open one of the doors, I literally felt more anxious then I can remember feeling anywhere; it turned out to be the room his ex wife had moved in to. All her belongings had been left behind and she was now living in an apartment he was renting for her. The room just emanated negative feelings and vibrations. As we went on to address the other rooms, his bedroom (where the noises were) was still filled with her things; they were also stored in his son's bedroom. He mentioned that at the height of her illness, she would bang on his door at all hours to try and get in----and something "clicked."
We are always taught in Feng Shui to address "Predecessor Energy" of former occupants, although it is thought of more frequently if someone passed in the house or an accident had occurred---or the home had been left under negative circumstances as his was. But this wasn't from that, this was the sheer energy imprint from his WIFE. I speak of "magnified" energy often or energy intensified. And realized that someone that has a condition such as she did (manic, highs and lows) would therefore create Intensified Energy so strong that it was indeed left behind.
I blessed the home that day and advised Lucky that he had to have her things removed and explained to him why. Although he understood the reasons, I could see that he felt terrible as she didn't have the room for it. But his court date was coming up and I felt it important that her belongings be brought back to her to decide what to do with them.
I got a call from him the very next morning. He told me that it was the first night he had EVER spent in that house where he wasn't awoken by the noises...he had slept the night through. It is the blessings, of course, and I reinforced the need to begin removing her things. On another follow up he told me that he felt better then he had in YEARS, he had slept every night through and was getting in early to work, allowing him to get home early and have more time with his son. He said that the court had ruled in his favor, the divorce was final and he had gotten custody of his son. He'd earned a promotion at his job and was thinking of taking his son to Disneyland.
The reason for this long, LONG post: We were not taught to look at the energy of someone who has a mental illness such as his ex wife. It certainly is magnified and intensified and something that should be addressed during a consultation. I am thrilled with his results of course but more then that, it was another learning lesson in this life long process of Feng Shui.
