Why the home buyer tax credit delay???

By

There was an article in today's REALTOR magazine online about The newest tax credit for home buyers.  In essence the article was saying the people that purchased a property after November 6, 2009 (when the new tax credit extension came into effect).  Seems the Treasury department has been unable to come up with a form to be able to file for the credit.

Previously, all a home buyer had to do was file a form that said they had purchased a property with no proof required.  As a result, there were thousands of reports of fraud.  (Now who would have thought anyone would tell a lie with $8,000 involved??  I've seen people lie over a dollar). This time around the IRS is seeking ways to force home buyers to prove their eligibilty.

Now I'm thinking....what is wrong with asking for a copy of the HUD??????  I guess that would be too simple.

Also I'm thinking....why not go after the people that falsely got money from the government??.....oh wait....they would have to go after the car companies, the banks too...

It is a shame some individuals took advantage of the system now everyone has to pay with having a delay in getting the tax credit.
