In the "old days" people who commuted by the train or bus would bring an ample supply of reading materials along with them to help pass the time. In many cases it was the daily newspaper, some documents related to work, or even a trashy novel.
In our high-tech world we live, commuters now want more...they want the Internet! According to WTOP, the area's train and bus services are planning to oblige. According to the news source, Amtrak is installing a wireless service for the Lynchburg line (which will stop in Burke as of tomorrow) as well as rolling out Wi-Fi for the Acela's Northeast Corridor run starting in March.
The bus line running from Woodbridge to Tyson's Corner also plans to add Wi-Fi for its express service while "Fairfax County is going to look at putting Wi-Fi on express runs for the County's bus system."
Beam me up Scotty!
