I would say, there are 2 basic ways of using candles : with or without a hurricane glass,vase or any other glass container.
Those" naked once "are usually arranged in groupings for more lighting affect and create rather casual atmosphere. However .... they do not necessarily work as a source of light.
By placing candles in attractive glass vases we achieve air of elegance in the space and more illumination in the area. Did you notice how this little flame gets to be magnified by the glass,how many more reflections we enjoy with every angle or cut of the glass. Obviously crystal will give us even more result and lots of twinkles!
Candles miraculously enhance even the simplest space by adding instant charm , mystery and romance.They do influence our psyche. Don't you agree?
As far as color of the candle is concerned, cobalt or forest green ,(although sometimes necessary for decor,) do not provide pleasant light or illumination to speak of. I like to use ivory and amber shades for warmer feeling. But... it is all personal.
Sented candles require extra care. Sents should not be too strong,or in conflict with each other, also should never be used in the dining room while entertaining. (but we all know that).
SO LETS ENJOY CANDLES ANY TIME ANY PLACE.
