PA Real Estate Continuing Education: Obtained Your PA License after Dec. 1, 2007? Read here...

Reminder just months away from renewal...

During October 2008, the PA Real Estate Commission issued new post-licensing continuing education requirements for "New" licensees - sales licensees INITIALLY licensed on or after December 1, 2007. The Commission hopes to broaden newcomers' knowledge of real estate, consumer service, and professional ethics.

The current licensing period for all licensees (brokers and salespersons) holding a Pennsylvania license ends May 31, 2010. If you're a "New" licensee, you must take two (2) 7-hour courses (totaling 14 hours) in specific, mandatory, Commission-approved topics to renew your license. No other continuing or broker-level education will satisfies this requirement.

The required courses are:

  1. Required Course: General Module
  2. Required Course: Residential Module OR Required Course: Commercial Module

While "Old" licensees - sales licensees INITIALLY licensed before December 1, 2007 - are still required to complete 14 hours of continuing education to renew their licenses, these hours can be in Commission-approved electives of licensees' choice.

RECAP: If you are a "NEW" licensee, you must take the required course modules to continue to do business after next June 1st.
