MLK Day:
I remember, years ago, hearing the president of a mortgage company give a speech to his sales force. In it, he cited part of an address from Martin Luther King, Jr. The quote is as follows:
"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well."
The mortgage president was trying to convey a sense of duty and integrity to his brokers, and the lesson has stuck with me- I thought today was an appropriate time to share that memory with you.
