Do you believe in Ghosts??????

By
Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

I know that many people believe in the paranormal, I am not going to blog about that.  I am blogging about using a ghost writer to write your blogs.  What do you think of that practice?  I know a couple of agents that employ a ghost writer on their blogs simply because they are too busy to sit down and write a blog.  They may feel uncomfortable putting their own thoughts and ideas into the public, or for whatever reason they use another person to write their blogs.

What do you "Rainers" think about this?  I personally find it cathartic to write my own blogs.  I know that my ignorance shows through, but that is who I am.  By writing my own blogs, I learn more about the topic that I choose to expound upon.

It doesn't bother me that some agents choose to have someone else write their blogs.  I do think that each agent has to do what is best for him or her.  On our team, I, Tony does most of the writing, that is what works for us.  I often consult with Darcy about what topic I should write about or if I am technically correct in my opinions, like I said, our system works for us.  There are other teams where members of the team take turns writing blogs, and that is alright as well.

Anyway, I was just sitting here wondering what you think of using a ghost writer, please let us know!  Have a great Week!

I don't think a ghost writer can give the information that you have in your mind.  They may able to write an article here or there, but if you want to be, or become the expert in your area, you have to let everyone know your skill level and knowlege.  You just can't get that quality with a ghost writer.

I know some who don't write their own blogs. I guess its okay, but I think its kind of a gray area. We prefer to write our own.

Jerry: that is how I really feel I get more from thinking about and checking my facts on the blogs that I write than I have gotten out of a lot of Continuing Ed type classes.

Terry: I agree with you as well, I do think that I prefer the process of writing my own blogs, but I guess I can see how others use a ghost writer.  I do think that writing your own blogs allows your readers to get to know you better.

Thanks both of you for stopping by and commenting!

Tony, Unfortunately, I'm a hands-on person so I would be sitting next to the ghost writer (ghosting him/her) and correcting their mistakes, editing what they write, changing this or that. It wouldn't work for me and I know that so I wouldn't inflict that on the poor ghost writer. Besides, I think personality needs to show through and whose personality is it if you're not writing it. It may work for others and that's okay, but not for me. Interesting question though; I'll be watching the answers.

Toni: I do agree with you for myself!  I would rather write my own blogs and allow people to get to know me than have someone else write my blogs!

Tony, I don't think it would work for me.  Another thing to consider is that I quite often get calls from people who have read my posts so if I didn't write it myself how would I know what they are talking about?

Silvia: I understand what you're saying, and for me, I agree.  I would rather deal with the bouts of writers block and feeling overwhelmed than have someone else write for me.  I feel like I am still finding my writing "voice" and I like the path of discovery.  Thanks for commenting!

I agree that I am too "Monice" (on Friends) to ever let someone "speak" for me however for Realtors where you are posting your listings or local housing statistics, I don't see an issue.  It's the blogs in which you talk about other topics, such as this one, that I think you would want to write your own.

Kathy, interesting insights, I would have thought that statistics would be one that would surely be done by the realtor, but I see why you say that you could see that could be written by someone else.  Thanks for the perspective!

Not only do I believe in them, but I used to live in a haunted house. I could write a movie about some of the strange things that happened there...

No one can replace YOU. I wouldn't feel comfortable to hire someone to write for me. My blogs aren't the best but my readers know who I am as a person and that is what matters :)

Hi Tony and Darcy,  I like to write my own blog, as it gives reader a better idea of who I am and what my views are.

Michael, I haven't actually seen one, but I have felt their presence.

Jackie, That is what I believe also.  I have said in other comments that I learn as much from writing a blog than I do when I read a really good blog, so for my own personal growth, I would not hire it done.

Ann, I agree.

Sandy, I think that you are also absolutely right!

I know a couple of agents that also use ghost writers.  I think it is ok!  But, I think readers often can get a better feel for who I am since I write 95% of my own stuff!

Myrl, thanks for stopping and commenting!  I also know a couple of agents that use the ghost writer, and if that is what they wish to do, then that's ok.  I feel like you do, that I want my readers to get to know me and who I am.  I readily admit that Darcy takes probably 95% of the photos that I use in my blogs, she is very good at seeing the best possible photograph in the shot!  I am the wordy one in our partnership.

I certainly have not detected your ignorance in your blogs.

I do a lot of "ghost writing" for people all over the world, mostly people in real estate. Most of it is used on their web sites, but I have noticed that some people also put it into their blogs. Rarely is my work kept intact, though; everyone modifies it at least slightly to make it their own.

Russel, thank you for your perspective, I was looking for someone who would come at this blog from your point of view.  That is interesting that your work is altered by the clients.  Thanks for commenting!
