Do You Think The Vikings Ran Up the Score on the Cowboys?

I enjoyed the Vikings victory over the Cowboys yesterday.  Coming into the game most of the experts picked the Cowboys to win.  Even some of the experts that pick the Vikings to win seems to be doing so just so they could be different.  Although watching them talk about the pick they seemed to think the Cowboys were going to win.

I had predicted a Vikings 41-17 win. Of course the actual final score was 34-3.  The last touchdown of the game came with under two minutes left with the Vikings going for it on a 4th down near the goal line.

After the play and after the game many of the Cowboys felt this was running up the score and were really ticked off about it.  I was listening to a local radio show and for the 30 minute drive I was on that is all they talked about.

What do you think?  Did the Vikings run up the score? Does it even matter?

The Vikings were making a statement. The message was for the Saints, just at the expense of the Cowboys.  If the are getting paid, earn their money.  It eas a great game for the Vikings.  I personally think that next week will be worthy of the Superbowl.  It should be a great match-up.

A long time ago, the Cowboys did that to the Packers as Favre sat on the sidelines and watched.  That may have had something to do with it.  Either way, it will take a lot of moves like that to get even for that Herschel Walker trade!

I don't think they were trying to run up the score. I think they were trying to run out the clock and just happened to score. If the Cowboys can't stop them, it's their fault. The Cowboys still have the best looking cheerleaders though!

I look at this a little differently. If you're up by 24 and have the ball with just a couple of minutes left, why are your starters still in the game? What if Favre, Rice, Harvin, or Shiancoe suffered a freak injury like New England's Wes Welker? The outcome was well in hand; I would have pulled the starters and just run out the clock.

I am a native of Fort Worth, now living in South Minneapolis, and I cheer for the Vikings on every Sunday except when they play Dallas. As a Cowboys fan, I was much less concerned about the score once the result was obvious. I was much more concerned about Dallas' failure to score when looking impressive on the opening drives, followed by the failure to block Edwards and Allen after an injury to Flozel Adams. While I agree with John Novak about the risk of keeping key starters on the field, I also agree with Tigard that sometimes it's easiest just to run the ball, and sometimes that may lead to a score. Admittedly, I stopped watching the game in the 3rd quarter, but only because I had to catch a plane.

Beating Philadelphia twice in two weeks may have taken its toll, though it was a great redemption for Dallas fans. If anything, the results from Sunday (Chargers the notable exception) prove how important that first round bye can be. I will be sporting Purple this Sunday, for sure!

Make sure your home is "SOLD by Friday!"

At this point of the season you don't often get a chance to try new plays against live opponents. They may have simply been trying a play that want to use later in the playoffs.

Skol Vikings!

More opinions than you want to hear about.

The Vikings may have run up the score, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer team.  At least it was a real touchdown, not like the one that stole a victory from the Vikings in 1975.  As long as America's zebras are on the field helping America's team you have to continue to score.
