Home sales in December dropped 12.3% from November sales figures, but increased 16.4% year over year, according to numbers released Tuesday by the S.C. Association of Realtors.
Last month, 3.504 homes were sold compared to 3,010 homes sold in December 2008 and 3,997 homes sold in November.
The median price for a home in December was 140,500, up from $138,000 in November.
Year-end totals show 42,690 homes were sold in 2009 compared to 46,914 in 2008, a decrease of about 9%.
The median price for a home in 2008 was $154,000. It fell to $141,000 in 2009, according to the association.
