Is A Snowman Still A Snowman When It's Not Made Of Snow ?

stone snowman, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, snowman statue, Jenny Kotulak real estate, Jenny Kotulak photo, Toronto photos

I came upon this fellow in front of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this week.  I was on my way inside to the 2010 RE/MAX Kickstart Sales Rally.  I couldn't resist stopping for a photo op because as you see by the background, I'm not going to find any snowmen around that are actually made of SNOW.

Our winter so far this year has been too kind and gentle to us here in the Greater Toronto Area.  I'm fine with that but I"m sure there are many children out there who are itching to build a snowman out of that real, white fluffy stuff.

I was happy to walk by this fellow, look down and smile at the fact I didn't have to wear my boots to the sales rally.  I almost felt like a kid again.

Boy!  It must have been difficult to build that snowman!  If the Toronto kids want snow, they should come to visit our Northern California mountains - at 3000 elevation just about 3/4 hour or so from my house there are whiteout conditions today and many feet of snow.  Good for ski areas and for our water reserves for the spring and summer.

Jenny, I don't think it's a snowman, definitely not!  First a moose in a Tuxedo and then this ...I think Canadians have a wonderful sense of humor!

Jenny,

We have also thankfully had a mild winter. The roses however, are doing poorly.

Hi Robert - At least this one isn't going to melt anytime soon lol.

Haris - I think Stoneman is an excellent name for him.  He probably has a name but I didn't look too closely.

Hey Gary - The name Pinocchio comes to mind also lol.

Hi Fred - Yes I did get inspired by the sales rally but the neat things I took photos of that had nothing to do with the sales rally were inspiring also.

Hi Rita - Yes he is very unusual isn't he?  Maybe someone should build something like this in Arizona or places that never see snow.

Hi Susan - funny to think you live in California and are so close to snow.  And people think of Canada as being in the big freeze.  Our ski hills (mountains??) are a couple hours from here but to see real mountains we have to get on  plane and head west to the Rockies about 4 hours away.

Hi Diane - Maybe if they painted him white he would look a little more authentic.

Hi Ken - Spoken like a father of young children lol.

Hi John - lol.  Isn't there a saying about art not imitating life or something like that?  Or am I way off?

Hi Janice - you got that right.  Sootman he shall be.

Hi Mary - The snowman, the moose and then the woodpecker lol.  I got three blog posts out of these guys.  Hmmm, maybe I should write a post about the sales rally itself??

Hi Terry - I can't believe Feb. is almost here and we have not had one snowstorm.  No snow days for kids around here.
