KUDOS to Virginia's Jim Webb for his statement on the MA election results!!

Property Manager with Gibson Management Group, Ltd.

I did not vote for him and I do not support his party's liberal/progressive agenda; however, this press release from Jim Webb's office should be the rallying cry for the moderate Democrats to STOP the current health care discussion * either in private or in public * and to allow Scott Brown to be seated in his MA US Senate seat.

Statement of Senator Webb on the Election Results in Massachusetts

January 19, 2010

Washington, DC—Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) issued the following statement in response to the special election results in Massachusetts:

“I congratulate Scott Brown on his victory, and I look forward to working with him in the United States Senate.

“In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process.  It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders.   To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.”

I have a lot of respect for Senator Webb, who said exactly what is going on, not some "spin" on the situation.  I'll take straight talking any day.

At least he gets it, I love the others that have their heads in the sand.

All the best, Michelle

Wow he almost sounds like he gets it. He might get to keep his job if he continues. I guess the people of VA can decide.

I give Webb credit for being gracious.  It's not a winning issue for the Dems to drag this out.

No need to stop discussion, Brown will be in place before any final votes take place.  What matter way more than Brown is getting good health reform through and finding a way to get around the BS that lobbyist have been delivering.  There's a reason why the healthcare industry spends one and a half million dollars daily on lobbying.

Tchaka * Webb won Senate seat of VERY POPULAR George Allen and he is SMART enough to know to get out in front of this issue if he wants to be re elected in a state that started the RED TIDE ROLLING....

Not all the Democrats are in lock step with every move of the current administration, or DNC.  Some of them may even recognize this moment for what it is - a call for ALL elected officials to listen to, and actually REPRESENT their constituents above the special interest groups currently paying for their votes.

On the other hand, Many Dem's who voice opposition are quietly taken aside, and shown how the Party is keeping score.

Webb is smart enough to know the winds are changing....he was VP mention several years ago so he needs to stay in US Senate to be considered again.
