FUN Feng Shui in New York City: What ELSE does a Feng Shui Consultant do?

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

You all know by now I love my "job" AND I love New York City.  Perfect combination for me!  Coming out of a consultation one day on the Upper East Side, I decided to walk back to Penn Station for my train home and thought of getting a "dirty dog" along the way  --  Hot Dogs from the carts in New York are called Dirty Dogs, I believe because the water they are in gets so dirty :)  But then you never know what you're going to run into.  I didn't get home until the evening because as I was walking, something caught my eye; and not being one to let anything get past me, I decided to go over and see what was going on.  Thank GOODNESS I had my camera because I can show it!  So what else does a Feng Shui Consultant do?  We run into the best things and have FUN.  I thought I'd share my afternoon through some shots I took:

Feng Shui Consultant, New York CityTents?  It was a Tuesday.  They must be selling some things, time to go investigate....

Feng Shui New YorkBeautiful Lincoln Center.  The elegance of that place amazes me, to date it remains the BEST tour I have ever taken and most people don't know about it!

Feng Shui Decorating in New York CityAnd a Shot of the Ballet.  Look at the day, it was just beautiful!

Feng Shui New YorkThere were a maze of tents, each one having unique, handcrafted items in almost everything you could think of.  This was an original piece of artwork that was dispayed outside one of the tents.  Price?  $6500.00

Feng Shui Long Island, New YorkI'm SO glad I stopped!  These animals were in a tent---and the last thing I would have expected to find!  They are Alpacas.  There was a woman there explaining about the lives of Alpacas.  I think I was more interested then the kids :)

Feng Shui Long Island Consultant, New York CityAre they CUTE?  They look like little camels.  Well, you wouldn't want to be a female Alpaca, here's a few facts I learned that day:  Alpacas are bought and raised for their fur.  It is non-allergic and used for many different things.  But the female is basically used to breed and have babies.  A Gestation period for an Alpaca is 11.5 months and two weeks after giving birth, they are bred again.  They can live up to 20 years but "only" breed for 12-15 of those years....which means they spend much more time pregnant then not.

Feng Shui ManhattanAlpacas are known to make humming sounds---except when they're mating.  When they're mating they make "singing" sounds......hmmmm, maybe they aren't so unhappy after all!

Feng Shui ManhattanThey ARE cute, aren't they?  Except if you touch their heads, they don't like that and just may spit at you if you do.

Feng Shui Long Island, New YorkHere is a person weaving the fur from the animals.  It's a tedious process that is done from methods used from long ago.

Feng Shui Consultations, New York CityThe finished products.  There are scarves, hats, and just yarn if you are creative enough to make your own things.

Feng Shui Long Island, New York CityOh, well, back to reality....one last shot of this beautiful fountain.  I always wonder how many movies were shot in front of it?  a few come to mind.

One of the reasons I love New York so much.  Who would have expected to find Alpacas by Lincoln Center?  Or anywhere in the City for that matter?  If you're ever in New York City, don't miss an opera, even if you think you won't like it..you will!  And don't miss the Lincoln Center tour.

So what else do Feng Shui Consultants do?  We get to have FUN!

Hi Carole,

Gorgeous photos and what a city!  It's time for me to get back up there, I love visiting and taking in sites and culture.  It's been awhile.  Take care.

Thank you for that lovely tour and info about alpacas, Carole !  The pictures were wonderful to see. I've never been to New York however my youngest son was there last year and he absolutely loved it. He says he wants to live there some day and knowing him, he just may.

Thanks for a refreshing and fun start  to my day,

Jo

Val, I also came across a big thing in Time Square one day for the summer solstice....it is incredible what goes on there, this was so much FUN!  And it was on a Tuesday.....That's why I thought it would be fun to have a NYC day (and maybe could have met Phyllis there)!  That's the camera I bought last year---the big one I hate to lug around (but do anyway :)

Joan, funny but I LOVE Boston too---I used to go there every single year it is such a great city.  And the ONLY place I have EVER been to that the driving was worse then New York City!!  Come for a tour of my personal fun spots!

Deborah, it doesn't get any better then this!  A picture perfect day and something I never thought I would run into.  I never plan my days in the city because I almost always run into something fun, but this tops most of them!

Cynthia, it's time for a visit....such a pretty time of year (but I don't mind the heat).  I love the museums and Central Park and the Village and what they've done with Soho...and I give great tours :)  Thanks for the comment.

Jo, I think you would love it....although it might take a day or so to acclimate to the crowds and noise.  When you see beyond that, it's a treasure.  Your son had better save if he wants to move there, it is SO expensive!!

Teri, thank you for the comment.  There IS always something going on, one of the things I love about the city and I seem to find them often enough.  This was SO much fun, the last thing I expected to see in NY.  If you haven't been here in that long, it is so much better then it was years ago... Much safer.

Ralph, thanks for stopping by.  The pictures are from the same camera I've had, I think it was just such a beautiful day they came out so well!

How Kewl!!  I'm never passing up tents again--seems like every weekend I see such a grouping, and pass it on by, in a hurry to get somehwere, and look what I may have been missing!  Alpaca are very neat animals--I did quite alot of research on them  and the breeding done here in this country (which is about all we do--breed to sell for more breeding--very little actual yarn manufacturing going on, as it's quite expensive.).  I opted for "not me", but I have a friend who's still thinking of packing it up for the Smokies to be an Alpaca breeder!  Thank you for this post--I love to see what's going on in the city!

Deborah, you'll have to come out and visit, you'd love both the City and Long Island in the Spring, summer or fall....I don't like winter anymore, I have truly gotten old!  But I've got room to stay and I give GREAT tours :)

Loretta, that is so funny, I never knew what an Alpaca was and had never seen one before!  I was fascinated with the information the woman was giving and it was just an amazing "find" in New York City!  Thanks for your comment.

Lorinda, thanks for the comment.  I didn't mean to make you homesick but New York sure is a wonderful place, isn't it?  I think some people that have never been here don't see it the way we do.  Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Deborah, you might be closer to that dream then you think.  Dream BIG :)  Yes, I am leaving in August and thinking about next year....Italy!  I've never been there and have to go.  And thank you for your offer, I know that I need to travel more because I have been missing it in my life.  Thanks for your beautiful comment and lovely offer!

How cute are they!!! I have alpaca's that live right down the street from me. Of course it would be a little more than a cab ride but the company would make up for the difference! Cute.

Those Alpacas are really cute!  They look like Llamas with punk hair dos!  I'd never imagine you could find those in the heart of New York.  I bet you were surprised to find them there!

Deborah, I am going with a good friend.  And only for 8 days; it seemed far away from me, too and it was for a long time.  This year I made a decision that I was going to get there and kept my focus on it and what I would need...and got it.  Your energy attracts what you need, even with the BIG dreams.  If you think they're far off, they are.  If you start to SEE it, you'll attract it.  Honest!

Sheron, not only did I never SEE an Alpaca, I never had heard of them.  What FUN it was seeing them and learning all about them!

Vicki, thanks for the comment.  I was shocked to see any animal in those tents and was glad I went to each one or I would have missed them!  It was hard to believe I was in New York CITY.  It makes me remember you are always where you're supposed to be.

Lori, I didn't know what they were, I had never even HEARD of them---and neither had the crowd that had gathered around!  Interesting that everyone else seems to have heard of them or seen them!  Thank you for your comment.
