Christmas Wish
Above us all, a star does shine,
Reawakening mortals with love divine,
Light cascades through wood and streams,
Bringing joy and peace within its beams.
The seasons march, the darkest last,
The light of God whose hand has cast
A mold of love with us in view,
Tying us to him through shadow's blue.
Look up, draw in the light to mind,
And open up winter's pillared gates to find
The brightening day, that New Year's night
Is becoming ever shorter with the heavenly light.
This short Christmas Wish I've penned for you,
As the hours of day grow all too few,
And across the coming year's rocky miles,
Remember me then with love and smiles.
My wish is this, my prayer I'll tell:
That the New Year makes us hale, hardy and well,
So with each kiss, embrace and toast,
I'll pray the light of heaven shines on you the most.
