CONGRATUALTIONS TO SHARON ELEMENTARY

Cumming, GA Elementary School wins the Platinum Award for Student Achievement!

Each year, our governor presents the Single Statewide Accountability System
(SSAS) awards to schools that show excellence in student achievement and/or
progress in student achievement. Award-winning schools must meet specific criteria,
based on the results of the most recent two years of Criterion Referenced
Competency Test (CRCT) (grades 1-8 in reading, English/language arts, math,
social studies, and science) and/or the Georgia High School Graduation Test
(GHSGT) (grade 11 first time test takers - English/language arts, math, science,
and social studies). Criteria are based on Full Academic Year (FAY) students.
We have been recognized as a winner in the 2009 Single Statewide Accountability
System (SSAS) awards. We have received the PLATINUM AWARD for outstanding
student achievement. This is the highest award that a school can
earn. Sharon Elementary School is one of only 14 elementary schools (out of over
1,230) in the state of Georgia to receive this award for the 2008-2009 school
year.
We received a congratulatory letter from the Governor’s office and a banner
that will be framed in our main hallway. It takes a collaborative effort of
teachers and parents working with students to earn this level of success and you
are to be applauded for your hard work and accomplishment
