WHAT COLOR TO PAINT ???? DECISIONS DECISIONS..WHAT WOULD YOU DO ????

By
Home Stager with HOME STYLE AND STAGING LLC

RED RED AND THEN THERE IS MORE RED !!!!!!

This is a very small powder room, which now is painted a wild and bright shade of RED. I am in the process of working something up for this client. They may or may not sell their home. So I want a paint color that they will love to have in their home if they do not sale, and will need a paint color if they decide to put the home on the market so that the buyer will love it...DECISIONS DECISIONS !!!!  I have a couple of colors in mind, but would like to run it past you and see what your thoughts are and if you have ever had this come up in your staging or re-design...

We will be removing the lighting..the 80's called and they wanted their light fixture back !!!!

So give me your ideas, and I am excited to see just how many suggest the idea that I have in mind..and then of course I wills hare the "After" photos with you...

Well, my go to color for the large open spaces in a home is Basket Beige by Sherwin Williams.

I actually think a bright color can work in a small space like a bathroom, but not quite this bright!!

Good luck!

Mary Lou -- your photos don't really show the flooring, which is a consideration when I choose a paint color....what is it?

Replacing the brass light fixture, facuet, and brass rings, etc will be a nice update.

Maureen: the floors are a light beige tile. Hope that this helps...

I'm always a fan of neutral beiges in bathrooms b/c you can dress it up with an accent color with towels, small art work, colored soaps, rug, etc.

I am a fan of strong colours for small powder rooms.  Based on floor colour a deep chocolate or rust colour might be nice.

Since you said the clients may or may not sell their home ... you could help them select a color that they like and that buyers would also find appealing.  It also depends on whether or not all of that dated brass will be replaced (mirror - faucets - towel rings, etc.). Since the floor is light beige tile and the woodwork and trim is white -- a contrasting color would be nice.  If it were my powder room I'd probably paint it Devine Mocha -- a soft medium brown which looks wonderful against white woodwork, but isn't so dark that it will look like a cave.  Hardware and all metals could be changed out to either dark oil-rubbed bronze or brushed nickel.  Good luck!

Hi Mary Lou - Speaking as a real estate agent, I would go with something in the mid-tone beige family and bring in the red with accessories, artwork and maybe a small area rug.

I hope the brass can be replaced....the light for sure!  I like dark rich colors in a powder room.....make it a "jewel box".  Love the idea that Maureen had with the soft light brown.  Good Luck!!

Two ideas are a mid-range chocolate or a soft metallic bronze. I'm going off the colors in the artwork and contrasting with the white fixtures & trim.

I love Hillsborough beige by Ben Moore for bathrooms. It is not too dark but looks very rich.

I'll be safe and go with a neutral beige as well.  Then bring in your color with the accessories.  My guess is--you won't be so safe!  Can't wait to hear what your idea is.
