Picking a Realtor for your Son or Daughter

I called someone who had registered on my web site. It was a broker who deals in land in a area about a one hour drive away from me. He informed me that he was looking for a home for his Son and daughter-in law in my area Dahlonega Georgia.  He went on to inform me he would be representing his Son. His specialty is developing land in the metro area. He started asking questions about FHA and USDA loans, he did not know the requirements for the loans and his son would like to put down as little as possible. He informed me that he had not sold a house in a long time and did not know much about my area. At the end of the conversation he told me that if I saw a good deal on a foreclosure in Dahlonega to call him.

If you were picking a Realtor to help your child find a home would you pick one who has not sold a home in several years, did not know what loan programs would be best for him and was unfamiliar with the area?

What if you could chose someone who lived in the area all their life, has been a full time Realtor for 11 years, closed close to 400 deals in the area? Someone who raised there children in the area, someone who knew the who the best local lenders, inspectors and attorneys.

I know which Realtor I would ask to help my Son or Daughter. When I see a good deal in Dahlonega or Dawsonville I know who I will call, it will be someone who I will be representing after all that is why they asked me to represent them.

Just because your license says you can work anywhere in the state does not mean you should!

Amen. Sometimes the almighty dollar over-rules common sense, but you'd think for your own child you'd want better.
