Verizon FIOS is coming to Braemar!!!
At first glance, when driving down Tartan Hills Parkway, and seeing the utility trucks in Braemar, I thought that RCN, the cable provider that bought out Gatehouse Networks, was installing new data cables in our community. Seemed odd since the ink on that deal had dried only a week or two prior. I was wrong.
Verizon is laying FIOS cable in Braemar.
The newer portions of Braemar, sandwiched on either side of Sudley Manor Road, have basic cable and internet access as part of their monthly HOA dues. The provider has been Gatehouse Networks, but will now be RCN. We are not expecting many changes in service initially, as RCN will shadow Gatehouse's normal operations. However, RCN promises a much larger channel and pay per view line up later in the year.
Since Gatehouse Networks has been a large disappoint to Braemar, I am sure that many residents will be thrilled to know that it won't be long before Verizon FIOS is available throughout the community. I am also sure that this is the last thing that RCN wanted to happen as they just signed their deal to buy out Gatehouse Networks in Braemar.
Remember that if you decide to go with FIOS when it is up and running in Braemar, just like choosing Dish Network or DirecTV for television, or Verizon DSL for internet, you will still be paying your regular HOA dues which include basic cable and internet through RCN. This has not been anything stopping a Braemar resident from paying additional money for premium service.
