Birmingham Alabama December 2009 Homes Sales

Residential home sales for the month of December were 179 less than those for November according to reports available through Birmingham MLS.  However, the average sales price increased in December over that for November. The 926 residences sold in December had an average sales price of $174,056, while the 1105 residential units sold in November had an average sales price of $163,329.

It is a great time to buy, especially for first time home buyers, (defined as anyone who has not owned a home in the last 3 years) and repeat buyers who have lived in their most recent home for 5 consecutive years out of the last 8 years.  Call me about the federal tax credit of up to $8000 for first time buyers and $6500 for repeat buyers.   If you qualify, I can help you take advantage of it before it is too late.
