First Time Homebuyers

By
Mortgage and Lending with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

I have found that most of the people I have worked with, were scared, uninformed, and sceptical about buying their first home.  I understand those feelings, I felt the same way when I bought my first home as well.  Being a mortgage consultant, I can not do a loan for myself when purchasing a home, so I went through someone else.  I told the loan officer exactly what I wanted, and how I wanted it.  At the closing table, things weren't as I specified.  What do you do?  Sign the papers and hope you can refinance with someone that will do as you ask?  Don't sign the papers and find someone else immediately and hope they will do as you ask?  Well, I signed the papers, and I hope I can refinance in the near future for the same, if not better rate.  There are days I regret not looking for a different loan officer. However, home ownership is a sort of freedom, that I would not change for the world.

I know a lot of you have been through that as well.  As a mortgage consultant, I feel that my job is to listen to your wants and needs.  If what you want is not available to you for credit reasons or something else like that, then I do research and find what is similar and that would be available to you.  I believe that you should be kept in the loop at all times during your loan process.

Yes, it is nerve racking, no, it doesn't get easier the closer we are to closing the deal.  In fact, you may get more nervous the closer we get to closing. The feeling for me was overwhelming, almost like a roller coaster ride, the anticipation once you are at the top of a huge drop, wondering what was I thinking, then on your way down the drop (signing the mounds of paperwork) you can't think, you have your stomach in your throat and hold on for your life.  Then, you finally get to the end of the ride, get your keys and go "home".  Relief that you do not need to go through that again for hopefully a long time.

I believe in the "Golden Rule".  I want to be treated with respect, courtesy, love, kindness, and truthfulness; therefore, I treat others that way.  My goal in life is to educate and be educated.  There is never too much to learn, and there is never too much trouble in helping someone.

God Bless
