Polybutylene plumbing, Deadlines for claims are gone.

I just Inspected a house with polybutylene plumbing and it has thrown my client into a predicament .

They canceled the contract on another property because the driveway was going to need replaced and the water main checked. They sold their current home, and need something soon.If this would have been a year ago ,no problem, file the cox vs Shell claim and have it 100% paid for. But the claim deadline expired in May of 2009. Now the expense of a replumb is on the seller or buyer.

Brian, the settlement around this piping system was pretty minimal at best anyway.  It typically only provided up to 10% of the cost of replacement of the system and 10% of damages and---here is the kicker----it only applied to PB grey (sometimes white) plastic fittings---not systems with copper fittings.  While there is a lot of anecdotal info about the pipe the class action suit only involved the fittings.
