To the Top of Cheyenne Mountain and Pikes Peak in 1926!
Curious Colorado is a film produced in 1926, about some of the great peaks in the Colorado Springs area. Within the same day, you can drive to the top of Cheyenne Mountain, and to the top of Pikes Peak in the Cog Railway. The current Cog Railway is much different than the one used today. Today's Cog Railway is covered, and you don't ride to the top facing the bottom of the hill!
Hi Marianne, That was so interesting! A step back in time, and I'm pretty sure I would not like the cog railroad ride backwards up the mountain!

I had no idea there was a Will Rodgers Memorial but I have heard of Pikes Peak.
Marianne, what a great old video. Amazing, and beautiful. My aunt went into labor once they reached the top of Pikes Peak in the 60's. We never were sure if the labor was brought on because of the drive up to the top, but the ride down was far more exciting!

Hi Mary: How have you been? I've been away from AR again, trying to focus on making some money! When you ride the Cog these days they tell you a story about why you shouldn't worry about the cables breaking...they say that if the do, there are a couple of Springs at the bottom to stop us. LOL I half expected the video to say that, too.

Hi Ruth: Was the baby born up there? That would be very scary for everyone. Was it early? Or did she know when she went up there that it was close to her due date?
Her water broke up there, but they did make it down. And, yes, she was close to her date, and knew better. :) But it made a fun story the next day, I guess!
