Having your own staging inventory is fun! and boy does it work!

Education & Training with PRES Staging Resource Centre

I (and some PRES students) had the pleasure of assisting with staging a home for Janet William's home seller. We staged the townhome a week ago and the client has just accepted an offer! The home seller is a single mom who has worked all her life and she admitted focussed more on what the children needed than her own needs. Seems a sad but true tale, and we are hoping once women see how to live differently they will make similar changes when they move. With the money from the sale of the home it would be awesome if they did spend some on themselves

Janet is the owner of MagicHomeStaging.ca.

Totally! While I have never been a mom (mom to cats only) I understand the struggles that they go through. I love 'being there' for the single moms 'cause I get how challenging juggling everything can be.

Hi Dana...not sure where the inventory comes in...are you just starting to build your own to use in your projects?

Congrats on the quick sale and for helping that MOM!

Hi Valerie - I have been teaching home staging for about 6 years now. I have found that it is best to own small inventory such as bedding, cushions, throws, accessories, florals, etc. to spruce up my seller's home. In our area, Vancouver BC, we have many rental furnishing companies that we work with who, when necessary, supply the larger inventory such as sofas, chairs, dining room sets, bedroom sets, etc. If we can use what the seller has great, if not, we enhance the look of the home with our inventory and make money from that along with our service charges.

That is great that you have good rental companies to work with. Call me crazy...I took the plunge when I started out and invested in enough inventory to do my first vacant....not new...second hand furniture, some art, plants, table settings ect... now I have a full warehouse and I do like working this way as it enables me to offer affordable rentals in this new staging market where I live. Yes...a bit crazy but it works for me.

Valerie I think you made a good decision since it is working for you! We have PRES graduates in small towns as well who have resorted to buying their own inventory since it was not available to them. It is a terrific investment for anyone really serious about making money since it is a good income stream. Cheers.

Dana thanks for putting this out on your blog.  I appreciate the exposure.  I am a new active rain person, as of today. So many things to learn.

Janet Williams of magichomestaging.ca you are so welcome - the townhouse sold because of your inventory so YAHOO for you!!!. Once PRES Members have their monthly meeting on Social Media in February, you will find out what you need to know and where to spend your time. I love this Active Rain blog because it allows me to learn what is going on in the minds of realtors, mortgage brokers, inspectors, etc - everyone in our industry.
