Out of Order

Blue Ribbonout of order

This is a 24" by 30" acrylic painting I completed recently; inspired by photos I took on a trip to Port Townsend, Washington. "Out of Order" points to what I see as our growing dependency on technology and the inherent vulnerability of not being able to survive without it at some point.

Meanwhile other species continue to adapt and evolve within their traditional relationship to nature.

As far as real estate goes, sometimes we get so involved in the latest new tech tool that we forget to just have some good old communication with our friends and associates as we used to enjoy so successfully.

Frank, Thanks for sharing your artwork and thoughts behind your creation.  After reading your comments I look back at your piece, and the "out of order" scope remains broken, because no one is coming around to view nature first hand, it is being viewed through technology indoors.  That is one way we (humans) can evolve....  It will be interesting to see where things are in 5 years time in real estate with the ever changing internet and technology. ----Gloria

Yes Myrl, there does seem to be a telling relationship between the two.

Hi Gloria, well I know the painter usually doesn't "explain" their work, but I like telling a story. And, the next 5 years will be a story for sure.

Hi Don, thanks. I do appreciate you stopping by here.

Hello Frank - this is a wonderful post. I really appreciate the talent involved in the painting, which is something I have absolutely no gift for, but also, I appreciate the thoughts you've shared here. It literally frightens me to think of life without my computer - and that kinda ticks me off - but it is what it is. If we use our technology to do something good for humanity, and to do something good for the creatures and other life we share our planet with - then it serves a good purpose. You've reminded us of that. Thank you.

Debi

Wow! Debi, I'm overwhelmed with your appreciation.

Life is a balancing act. It is important not to lose sight of what it means to be human in this world with other species all fighting for survival.

Probably no big deal for the bird ... I don't think they have anywhere to carry quarters. Nice work, Frank!

Frank~ I loved the painting and the anology.  It is true, we seem to be quit lost when our computers go down or the phones go out.

Frank, in terms of adapting to their environment---few of us could stand to eat what seagulls will eat:)

Dawn, it is pretty telling when we have to do without our tech.

Thank you Andy.

Charles, if it means survival, I think taste becomes secondary.

Frank, in your post you said "...points to what I see as our growing dependency on technology and the inherent vulnerability of not being able to survive without it at some point.

Other than our dependence on computers in this business, the first thing I thought about was all those people working cash registers at check out...if electricity went on vacation for a day, I don't think half of them would be able to count change...I've seen it first hand and I'm sure a lot of others have too.  It's a good point you make.

Hi Nick, yes, there are a lot of folks that would find themselves in trouble. How about our kids, if they need to do simple math?

Thanks Robert. I appreciate you stopping by here.
