Well, when I was drinking my 2nd cup of coffee this morning I let the dog in, and glanced at the temperature... YIKES 17 degrees.  It must have been really cold last night.

Well guess what I am doing this weekend?

sleeping bag

Well I will be camping tonight and tomorrow night with my sons Scout troop. The picture above is from a year ago when I woke up to 18 degree temps and ice crystals in my tent.  The things we do for our kids!

(My son just had his Eagle Board of Review- typed the Proud father of an Eagle Scout)

So when you are snug in bed, you can laugh at me headed north where it will be even colder to camp for the weekend.

Have a great weekend

Good for you!!!   It will be a memory that lasts a lifetime.   Congratulations to your son - my husband was an Eagle Scout in Northern Ireland and I'd feel safe camping out with him any day :0)

Been there, Done that.  I am an eagle scout and eventhough my son is 25, I am still involved.  Remember to take a water bottle, put hot water in it and put in the bottom of your sleeping bag.  Make sure the bottle is fairly thick and the top in on good or will will have a horrible night

Jim, I am one of the Scout masters, been in the cold too many times to count, you figure out all the tricks after 1 cold night!

Vickie, NEVER!  Boy Scout Motto: Be prepared!

Susan, while I would rather sleep in my own bed, I am looking forward to the trip, I am planning a great hike tomorrow.

OMG.....and to think, when I woke up this morning and it was 41 degrees outside, I thought I had been shipped to Alaska.  But, the whole camping with your kids is where it truly is at.  Kids are the best thing that happen to you.  Have fun.

OH my goodness. I can't imagine camping in those conditions. My idea of camping would be a RV and turn the heat on. LOL

As long as the trip is well planned and everybody is well prepared it should be a great time.  Enjoy the peace of nature.

Jean, 40's is perfect camping weather!

Lynn, It is fun to get the boys away from technology - and to see what you are made of all at the same time!

Glen, The funny thing is the boys typically dont compain about the cold once they are tucked in for the night

Robert, I use to camp a lot (living in the White Mountains)...but now that I'm older I think "roughing it" is a hotel with out room service.

Steve, add in a drink with an umbrella in it!

Congratulations to you for having the courage to stick it out in 17 degree weather and congratulations to your son for doing the hard work it takes to become an Eagle Scout. You should be proud as you have one special kid there.

Jane, We dont have any sailable ice arround here yet!  But if it stays as cold as it was this weekend we will!

It was a great weekend, cold, but fun.  on Saturday it was cold enough to freeze a water bottle that was in my back pack as we hiked the mill stone trail. Sunday morning when we left it was 10 degrees.

I have a few picks I will probably post for wordless Wednesday.
