Getting To Know Your Community: Waste Not, Want Not!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty BRE# 01510971

Any chance I get I like to notify people of the community of the places we can utilize to take our dump. Working on REOs, as agents we come across alot of homes that have a lot of junk, electronics, paints, etc...that needs to be disposed of and yes, you can take them to the city dump....BUT it'll cost you!

As residents, I believe that we should be as conscious as possible about the proper way to dispose of hazardous and electronic waste. As well as utilizing the other recycling methods. Last year, I wrote a Blog: How Do I Get Rid of This Hazardous Waste? With Spring cleaning coming up, we should keep in mind that in addition to cleaning out and donating unwanted clothing items and furniture, we are keeping our homes  free and safe from any hazardous waste and to provide resources on how to get rid of any electronic waste. Delta College will be providing a venue to dispose of the following for FREE:

Electronic Waste:

  1. Televisions
  2. VCR/DVD players
  3. Stereos
  4. Radios
  5. Computers
  6. Monitors
  7. Printers
  8. Cellular Phones
  9. Telephones

Universal Waste:

  1. Household Batteries (AA, 9V, D, etc.)
  2. Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes
  3. Mercury Thermometers
  4. Other mercury-containing devices

In addition, clean, white block Styrofoam packaging will be collected at these events and sent to a local recycler (no packing peanuts or bubble wrap). This would take place on every second Saturday of the Month between 9am to 3pm. Starting March 13th at 5151 Pacific Ave.

HAPPY RECYCLING!
