It's snowing in Franklin TN. Having grown up in the Chicago area, driving in snow is nothing new to me. In Chicago, they often get 6 - 12 inches or more when it snows. Because they get so much snow, the state is prepared to handle the conditions of the roads. There are plow trucks out right away, plowing and salting roads.
Living in the south, however, is a different story. Tennessee doesn't have plows and don't salt the roads. Even a little bit of snow can be a problem.
Case in point, I left my office today at 1:15. I only live about 10 miles away. It usually takes me about 17 minutes to get home. Today, I walked in the door at 2:57. It took me almost an hour and 45 minutes to drive 10 miles.
This is the traffic I encountered. If you don't absolutely have to go out, don't. The roads are a mess, the traffic is heavy and accidents abound. Stay home, watch a movie and play board games with your kids.
