In the first part I posted about public reaction to to the thought of getting a Mid-Currituck Bridge.

The realty thou is that public opinion may not matter. The Mid-Currituck Bridge has been in the plans now for well over two decades as a way to connect the mainland of Currituck County to the Currituck Outer Banks with out having to drive hours through Dare County to get there. Is it finally going to happen? No one can say for certainty. All we can do to for now is follow the news.

Here is the latest reports from the Daily Advance

- The environmental impact statement for the bridge is expected to be released in the next couple of weeks

- the final environmental impact statement is scheduled for release in the second quarter of this year.

- A bridge toll ranging from $6 to $30 per crossing has been proposed but nothing has been finalized.

- The latest schedule calls for the bridge to open to traffic in 2013.
