There is a new construction project expected to start in the area in the next two to three months. This project has already been approved by the Federal Highway Administration, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and the Army Corp of Engineers. The project will provide Huntsville with the first greenway trail to be located along Bradford Creek. The project is estimated to cost around $1.5 million and is planned in two phases. There is a possibility of three phases depending on the budget and approval of federal funds.
There would be an path, as well as, bridges over Bradford Creek. The greenway is expected to be a great place for activities such as walking, bicycling or skating. The first phase is expected to run along the creek between Palmer Park and Heritage Elementary School about 2 1/2 miles. The second phase will extend from Palmer Park

to Westchester Drive for about 1 1/2 mile. The third phase is completely up in the air at this time. That is mostly due to the fact that there is no available funding for a third phase. If the plans for the third phase succeed, it could possibly stretch from Heritage Elementary School north to Liberty Middle.
As always, I will keep my eye on new developments regarding this project and I will keep you informed!!
