Can you hear me?? I need a mic for video presentations

Real Estate Agent with Shoreline Properties

I recently bought a Sony HandyCam that I intent to use for video presentations of listings, etc. I need a good wireless mic. I just checked online to find out that they are running around $250.00! That's almost as much as the camera! I know most of you ar way ahead of me, and have been recording video presentations for years now, while I have only sat back and thought about it! I need to get the mic asap so I can jump on the bandwagon. I think video presetations are one of the greatest ideas we have implemented in a long time.

Anyway please hekp me and tell me of your experiences with wireless microphones. Do I spend the $250.00 for a top of the line, or have you found that they are pretty much all the same when it comes to our needs? What models have you been using?

I really appreciate your responses.

Hello Jaclyn,

I just finished attending the recent Indianapolis BarCamp this past Monday.  At the Barcamp, I attended a session with Greg Cooper as the speaker.  Although Greg was using a Canon FL100 if memory serves me correctly?

Greg did suggest going to Radio Shack to get #1 a microphone(apparently good quality) #2 Buy a 25 ft. extension cord for your microphone cord(never know when you will need it), #3 Buy spare microphone batteries, Consider buying a tripod as a necessity, and consider buying mounting adapters for your car(ie/similar to dash mount Police use).

You might want to check out some of Greg's sites:

I found Greg to be very interesting, and very informative at the BarCamp.

Good Luck with your video taping.
