TEAM, TEAM-MATE, TEAM-WORK = SUCCESS

By
Real Estate Agent with ERA Team IV Homes

I have found that we are always forming some type of team, be it at work, with family,friends,neighbors,etc...

"Team" - a number of people associated in some joint action.

"Team-mate" - a member of the same team.

"Team-work" - cooperative/coordinated effort by a group of persons acting together as a team for a common cause.

What makes a successful "Team"?

I believe with a successful team there must be a strong team leader, that everyone trusts & respects.   When that is in place, the team-mates must all be working toward the same goal (team-work) in order for the team to be successful.  Team-mates must have mutual trust and respect also, because if they don't in the end they will be part of an unsuccessful team.

I have been a part of many teams, some more successful than others.  I have seen teams fall apart because of greed and selfishness and in the end everyone ends up a loser.  Why is it that people can't see that being greedy and selfish gets them nowhere in the end?   Maybe it's all part of the "Me" society we have become, I don't know.  A team CAN NOT be successful if the team-mates have to be constantly watching their backs, because it wastes vaulable time and energy that should be invested in whatever project they are working on at the time.  We all want to be part of a successful team and in order to do that the team must work together not against each other.

Some people believe they go through life, making it on their own with no one helping them.  I beg to differ on that.  Throughout our lives, there is always someone there being a team-mate in some form.  Sometimes it just doesn't appear that way until you take a good long look at it.

We are all part of some type of team everyday of our lives, what kind of team-mate are you?

When I a trying to motivate people I work with or friends and family I always use the line - "Alone I am strong - together, as a team, we are unstoppable!"  Teams are a great thing - if you have the right players playing the right positions to their best ability.

Danielle,

I agree, even though we are independant contractors we must also work as a team to make the company stronger.  Thank you for your comment.

You won't make it through life without some sort of "team". Going it alone sure does make things much more difficult. Thanks for the blog

Great post - sorry I just came across it tonight. I agree, working in a productive TEAM and moving toward the same goal is not only productive, but uplifting too. I can't say enough about the people I work with in my company. It is truly a joy to go to work.

Debbie,

Thanks for the post. I am fortunate to be with my company for over 24 years. Many of the people I work with have tenures over fifteen years. We are a team. Only one agent in my office has an assistant, the rest of us support each others efforts and we foster this concept with new hires. When we say "Team ERA", it is not an empty chant, it is the epitome of our relationship. Now to be a Rainer, just furthers the circle of support. The information imparted here amongst Rainers, goes a long way toward helping enrich our lives on many levels. This is worthy of a gold star!

I agree that without teamwork and having to watch your back it is difficult to be successful.

Debbie,

Thanks for the post. Of course you know the ERA motto. The team spirit can be infectious. I am fortunate to have been with ERA for my 25 year career. The agents have changed over the years but the team spirit is still as strong as it was day one! Go TEAM ERA!
