Why do "families" have joint e-mail accounts/addresses? It's CONFUSING!

I had not run into this until recently * family/comingled e-mail addresses.  I was having e-mail communication from my website with the "man of the house" regarding one of my rental properties and I was asking questions and receiving responses....then I started getting the same questions again and I asked if he had gotten my last 2 e-mail responses.  It ends up that while my original communications were with him, she also used the same e-mail address and started asking the same questions again.

E-mail addresses are CHEAP * ACTUALLY they are FREE * so why, why would there be the need to share an e-mail address.  E-mail me with a copy going to your spouse and I can respond to all so we keep on the same page. It saves time for everyone AND everyone gets the same information.

I've seen this before.  There is a possible reason.  They have a joint email address that they give out to people they don't know well, and you will be allowed into the "private" email addresses once they figure out that you are not going to SPAM them.  The othe reason is that possibly they want the kids to all have the same email address so they can moitor it? (as if the kids can't create their own for free) :-)

I have no idea and they shouldn't have! I have around 25 of my (own) email accounts because I have so many different businesses and avenues of marketing.

I get full rental applications for all rental applicants and I ask for each cel phone # AND e-mail address - most have work or personal e-mail * I guess I'm just surprised that they would have 1 at home as we were communicating during the day when he would have been at work.  I need to pay better attention.
