We are asked this question often by our design clients. To us, it always come down to the impression that you want to present to your potential client. As we mentioned in a previous blog post, hosting these days is cheap enough that you shouldn't need to even think about free hosting.
One thing to keep in mind with "Free" hosting is that typically, they are riddled with advertising and this advertising is added to your website and there is nothing that you can do about it - except pay the host to upgrade you to a non-ad filled account!
Another issue with Free hosting is that most of them do not allow you to run your own scripts for website management or form submission, etc.
The list goes on and can be quite frustrating!
