Waverly, Iowa Go Green Fair

By
Home Inspector with Castle Home Inspection LLC

Over the weekend in Waverly, Iowa we spent four hours at Wartburg College's annual Go Green Fair. Our purpose was to inform attendees of the show from Waverly, Iowa and surrounding areas that homes should be tested for Radon intrusion. Our display included many informational brochures from the EPA and Castle Home Inspection LLC.

We had some different types of Radon testing devices and had a drawing for a free professional radon test using a RADALINK Telemonitor. Waverly, IA along with all cities in Iowa are located in Zone 1 of the national radon concentration map. We like to keep everyone informed about Radon and if you have high levels in your home, ways to remedy it. Bremer County Iowa had 210 residences tested for Radon in 2008 and of those 210 homes 116 or 55% were found to be equal to or above the EPA working level of 4pCi/L and 41 of the 116 were over 10pCi/L. We hope to test at least 100 homes in Northeast Iowa in 2010. Since Radon is the number two cause of lung cancer in the USA there has to be more testing and understanding of the effects of this deadly gas. We will be attending a health fair in New Hampton, Iowa on the 7th of February. Remember at Castle Home Inspection llc everyone's home is their castle!
