Will high-speed rail turn Macon into an Atlanta suburb?

Imagine boarding a high-speed train in Macon and 45 minutes later arriving in downtown Atlanta. Spend the short trip working on your laptop or resting comfortably, as your train zips past frustrated drivers fighting traffic on I-75.

With travel time of less than 1-hour, the train would be an opportunity for local residents to take advantage of all the shopping, sporting events and entertainment, Atlanta has to offer.

More importantly, high-speed rail would make it convenient for Middle Georgians to commute to Atlanta for employment, possibly turning Macon into Atlanta's newest suburb.

Last Friday, Examiner.com interviewed Mike Ford, CEO of New Town Macon and a board member of Georgians for Passenger Rail, on the proposed train route connecting Macon to Atlanta. 

Mr. Ford has worked for many years trying to bring the rail to reality. He strongly believes in the positive impact the corridor would have on the local community.
