Brokerages Slow to Adopt Digital Marketing

Real estate companies have been slow to adopt digital marketing, according to a survey from Brandeis Universities International Business School and digital marketing firm inSegment Inc.

The survey found that 76 percent of real estate companies spent less than 40 percent of their marketing budgets on digital marketing, devoting the rest of the money to more traditional media.

About 58 percent don't use search-engine marketing. Of those that do, only 33 percent invest in search-engine optimization.

The report found that 53 percent of the respondents expect to increase their digital marketing budget in the future, while 37 percent plan to keep it at the same level, and 10 percent plan to decrease their digital marketing. They cite complexity and smaller budgets as reasons to go slowly or pull back.

Harley, You are right.  I can't figure it out either, but I'm happy with that as we are one of handful of companies here that has totally embraced technology.  I look at it like our parents/grandparents not being able to figure out how to use a remote control or DVD player, etc.  The Brokers grew up with their current business model and that is how they do business, so they are slowly dying on the vine.
