Agents get back to basics

I've noticed that some agents are struggling in the current economy.  My business is down a little but I am managing to find business and close deals.  I have always kept up with the basic forms of marketing.  Think back to when you first became an agent.  What are the things you were doing?  Marketing to expireds and FSBO's?  Sending postcards?  Canvassing neighborhoods?  All these things are great ways to keep your name and face on people's minds.  I am constantly going back to my sphere of influence, calling, mailing letters or postcards, dropping by, etc.  When someone in my sphere is going to buy or sell or knows someone who is, I am who they think of.  Also, getting out on the web such as Linkedin, Facebook, and Twitter.  I am now getting business off Facebook by working my sphere.  I look forward to hearing your comments.  Good luck and may the recession end soon!

This is always the way to go - forget all the new ways and do what works.

Tracy,  thanks for the positive note. I like this. We just had a meeting yesterday in our office and were reminded, things ARE selling. Buyers ARE buying. An agent (mostly two) DID close the deal. Why not us? We can do it. Just get out there and get the business!

I get most my leads from on-line and referrals also. Postcards have not been successful for me,nor do I want to knock on doors. Twitter does nothing for me but Facebook does. I feel that a strong internet position is the key!

With all the talk about social media marketing, I think some agents forget about some of the older tried and true methods.

I don't knock on doors, but will do door hangers offering a free CMA in neighborhoods that have a high turnover.  With the post cards, I think the just listed and just sold are effective because they let comsumers know that you are getting the job done for others.  cas
